Subject: [CR]Introduction and request for advice on building up a new frame

Hi,

This is my first post to this list, so first I wanted to say hi to you all. My name is Dmitry Yaitskov, I live in Toronto, Canada. I joined this list a few weeks ago, because I like classic steel/lugged bikes (especially their looks), (though I don't think any of the bikes that I myself own yet qualify as "on-topic" for this list). As I said, I've been lurking here for a couple of weeks, and enjoyed reading your posts a lot.

Now for the request for advice part: Earlier today I won on eBay the F W Evans "light touring" frame that was sold by Hilary Stone (item 130131127367), and I am seeking advice on which parts to build it up with. According to Hilary, the frame is circa 1982. I would like to build it up into a reasonably light geared (that is to say, I'm not going to turn this frame into a "fixie") bike suitable for "brevet-like" rides (but no loaded touring), using "period" parts where possible. But at this point I have no idea yet what those parts should be - your advice on what to use (and, if possible, on where best to get it) will be very much appreciated.

Thanks.
