I should add a few words. I may be the only one on the list that worked at the original Schwinn Factory, back in the '50's. It was widely known that Schwinn made all the parts in house as a matter of professional pride and expertise just like the Europeans. About the only things they did not manufacture on the Paramounts were the pedals, toe clips, straps , tires, saddles, chains, spokes. I think they made rims, but not to sure on the tubulars. When I was there those were not. Obviously, the wood rims were not. But chainrings, cranks, BB's, headsets, hubs, stems, seatposts, bars?, all that was made in house. I won't bother with the balloon tire parts as that division is far too sophisticate for the CR list to master, and don't wish to blow our fellow listers safety valves with a far too difficult esoteric category that is beyond the List's pale.
