Bob, As the current owner of 12 Colnago's and having owned dozens more I can safely tell you there is little/no rhyme or reason regarding serial numbers. The age-telling details are but not limited to cable guides, seatstay caps, chain stay stampings, lug & crown drillings and clover cut outs, drop-outs and so on. Additionally, one can only guess if Colner and Rauler frames followed traditional Colnago build details.

I spent the morning working on my Colnago stable in preparation for the Velo-Rendezvous that is in 2 weeks! I plan to spend the rest of the afternoon with a light minty green Super from 1978 I have owned since circa 1980.
