Subject: [CR]Matteo: Charles says the problem is the other guy not Matteo

As many of you recall, I posted a negative email about Matteo several months ago. For that email I got roasted, "on list" by many, and supported by many, "off list". I speculate the "off list" group may experience intimidation from the group or sanctioning from Matteo or his close friends.

There are at least three reasons here, in list members not empathizing with the plight of purchasers. One is that some members are friends of Matteo. Another is that some members are "sellers", and therefore, are more apt to look at the situation from a "sellers" perspective. They may be less sensitive to "buyers" issues. The last one I offer, is that some may mistakenly conclude that just because all their transaction have been acceptable, that everyone else will certainly have that same experience. And perhaps if they don't, then they are the one at fault.

When I posted the negative experience with Matteo, I too was frustrated with lack of communication, and "in your face" attitude. Since then, I have closely followed "the list" communications involving Matteo.

I was expecting that Matteo would not do any future business with me after my negative posting. However, on August 15th, I decided to give Matteo an eBay bid, which he accepted to my surprise, and I won the bike. I received the bike a little more than a week ago, but have yet to receive the wheel and shifter, which where a part of the auction. I have emailed Matteo and he has responded that he has not yet been able to get the wheel, since the guy he is getting the wheel from has been ill. I personally don't think someone should offer something for sale, unless they not only have possession of the items for sale, but are in a position to ship ALL items on a timely basis. However, I have decided that it will be acceptable for me to be patient.

I have had several other earlier dealings with Matteo, all with satisfactory experiences. I have decided to continue dealing with Matteo for at least several reasons. One is that I have accepted that Matteo may be slow in providing what he offers in the auction. Another is that I realize Matteo has some cool items to auction, and so, I am willing to "take the rose with the thorn". Another is that I feel Matteo is basically honest, but may have too many "irons in the fire" to effectively deal with all of them on a timely basis. Finally, although I don't know Matteo much at all, I have read very complimentary comments about him, as well as some negative comments. However, my instincts tell me that he is "at heart" a really good guy, and I would like to continue dealing with him, if he is willing to deal with me.
