The Dura Ace AX group had a kind of primitive "click-shift" mechanism which indicated a completed shift by a clicking sound. The pedals you mentioned were actually available earlier than '82 in an EX iteration (part of the Dura Ace EX group) from about '79. It was actually a brilliantly conceived, somewhat hastily executed group (you can see my article from the Int'l Cycle History Conference on the group). I am still deep in AX parts-- some new some used -- for those who need spares. Alan Bernstein, beautiful Indian Summer in NY as the U of Michigan finally came through.
