I have a rather similar Hetchins Italia, with fancy-cut lugs and a gold head tube. I paid somewhat more for the full bike several years ago. Mostly, I wanted a Hetchins that had the flavor of the older ones but "modern" (1970s) ride, comfort, and handling. For that, I've gotten good value, and appreciate the deal with the seller. It is a good bike, and incidently quite pretty.

Hi Ed: You thought that was high or low? The selling price seems very reasonable to me.. You certainly don't see many Hetchins Italias for sale and that one is a nice color, size & condition... In fact, it seems like that was a bargain to me!?

I was frankly surprised it went that high. Apparently?I shouldn't be?from the feedback I'm getting. I generally think of Italias as being at or near the bottom of the Hetchins hierarchy, lacking many of the features that made Hetchins famous/distinctive. That one does have the nice fork crown extension, and it is in lovely shape, and a good size. I guess I need to readjust my Hetchins valuation calipers.
