"I have some NOS AVA rims to build soon, and will be needing washers. I remember rim washer having a bit of a curve to them to match the rim curvature? Am I wrong? (I hope to be wrong, actually, #8 stainless washers would be SO much easier to locate!)

Just back from a 50 mile ride on my '73 Raleigh Competition on a nice early fall day"

hi Clyde,

by chance, I picked up a NOS 1974 International about seven years ago. One of the few mods I've made was to switch over to clinchers. The AVA rims and washers were packed away for some future use.

Checking on the washers, I see that they are indeed curved. The big question is whether that was intentional, or do they just bend under load?

The amount of curvature isn't much. I don't think it would be too hard for you to put a little bend in some stainless washers.

If you need dimensions or photos of the washers, let me know....
