Regarding the date of the French frame set I believe it can be roughly dated by the Simplex rear dropouts. I have a Claude Buttler "Massed Start" which is from about 1953/54 which uses these same dropouts. Perhaps a list member can state more precisely when these dropouts were available? Also does anyone know if the derailleur hanger is threaded on these dropouts? Mine has no threads but I fear someone has possibly drilled them out in order to fit something other than the correct Simplex unit.
