Subject: [CR]65mm BB with Double Chainring ???

My 50's Hobbs has a 65mm bottom bracket. I'd like to use a Stronglight 49D on the bike.

I found a Stronglight double axle that works with my 49D but it has 3 mm of adjustable cup threads showing.

A few questions about this?

Where were 65 mm bottom brackets common besides track bikes?

Was 65 mm common for cottered crank, single chainring British bikes?

Is there a cottered crank with double chainring for this bike?

What were the work-arounds to make it a double? The Hobbs' chainstays are only crimped on the inside. I cannot fit a double chainring on a track axle.

Are there any square tapered axles for 65 mm bottom brackets running double chainrings?
