Oddly enough, they used the Strada cranks. They are stamped Strada on the inside of the arms. Prior to anodizing, they machined off the inner "ledge" that supports the inner chain ring. Now why didn't they just use Pista arms?

I have two ideas

They had a large surplus of Strada cranks, when compared to the Pista crank

or

They wanted to be sure they (BMX cranks) were not confused/sold as, Pista cranks. After they were machined they couldn't be confused for Strada. From what I have been told it is very easy to remove the anodizing with oven cleaner
