Subject: [CR]ebay auction: Campagnolo grease

Lately I've been in the market for some vintage campagnolo grease, because I have a couple of bikes that are just crying out for an overhaul with the real deal. Personally, I find this sudden mild obsession of mine to be plainly insane, but there you go.

So, I keep looking for some 70s or early 80s Campagnolo grease (because any Campagnolo grease made later just wouldn't be right, you know?)..

Lately there have been two nice tubs of Campagnolo grease on ebay. Partially used. One sold a couple of weeks ago for about 112 bucks...and one just sold for....wait for it...

$213.75. WTF????????????????????????????????

I'll keep looking. But this, friends, is pure lunacy. Is it not?

Btw, I know the person who bought it is on the list...I love ya baby...but why, oh why????

(and, John Barron, you were bidding on this thing over 100 bucks...what's wrong with you??? <g>)

Just to make this entire business even more surreal than it already is, I own a nice 500gram tub of Campagnolo grease from probably the mid-1980s, or thereabouts. Full up. NOS. Unused. Still sealed with the logo'd foil. But, of course, I couldn't possibly USE it. It's sealed, ya know? <g>

At least I paid a hell of a lot less for it than that tub above.

What is WRONG with us?

I think I'll go inhale the fragrant fumes of some Park grease. It'll keep me grounded.
