"On a track" are the operative words here. It has been contested as an out-and-back event before with a lot of the times under 141.4, but I don' know if it has been done "on a track" recently. And, is that a velodrome, or the standard 440 yard running oval? Dean Patterson Alpine, CA USA

I am reading the new Taylor biography that just came out in 2008 and was wondering. If it had been broken, I can't imagine his record could have been broken by much, and I couldn't find anything which tops his record in google. Amazing what is possible without carbon fiber!
