If we have any way of tracking this guy down, we will assign a hit-squad to rescue the bicycle. I have been working with my State representative and have convinced her over a couple of bottles of good wine, that there is a desperate need for a new department in State government. I was going to name it CPS (CINELLI PROTECTION SERVICE) but the acronym was already taken. I suppose I could go with CBRS (Classic Bike Rescue Service) and that would fit unless it steps on another bureaucrat's toes. What will be done is that a large public awareness campaign will be mounted and the public will be made aware of the dire straights (not the band) of some classic bicycles. There will be a reporting agency that receives reports of possible abused classic bikes and a judge can elect to have the violated bicycle removed from the offending home and placed with an appropriate loving recipient who has in the past, been screened and has a proven track record of caring for the abused bicycle. I did recommend myself. Are there any others who would like to be foster parents of the abused bikes? I am researching funding and have demonstrated that the cost to the taxpayers would be minimal. A good cleanup and a warm place to stay is a start. Later there could be perhaps a painting and a psychological retrofit of original parts. Remember we must treat the bike as a whole entity, not as a cold piece of metal, but an object of inherent beauty. Any one know how to write funding option requests for government grants??

As long as we're talking about abominations...

I can't tell if he hacked off the rear derailleur hanger. At least he had the good sense not to paint it.
