Listers,

I won an auction for some handle bars a short time ago, for which the description specified "45cm c-c." Today, I received the package and immediately opened to find a set of 41 cm bars that have had the lower portion of the drops cranked outward radically. I actually laughed out loud when I pulled them out of the box.

Yes, the bars were described as new, NOS, etc. and are, in fact, unused as the center section has nary a mark. But the size . . . . Sheesh. The size is even stamped on one of the drops as "410."

I stopped laughing when I went back to the auction listing and saw a return policy that obligates me to pay shipping both ways for any return; all items sold "as is" etc. Shame on me for not noticing that return policy before bidding, but the description is so far off on this one -- and nobody could pick these bars up without realizing what was wrong with them -- that I do expect the seller will make good without requiring me to shell out for the shipping. But maybe I'm being optimistic. In any case, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and not disclose his ID for the time being.

Anyway, just another cautionary ebay tale to start the weekend. Have a good one.
