Subject: [CR]Wheel Building Sunday ...

... always wondered how these were laced, so i signed for a local class the other day. we met this sunday. everything went pretty good with the "weaving" process, the nips and stuff. i did a 32 x.

but my wheels were not even close to being in symetry. ack ! looked like laced up eggs on the park thing.

so before you go ... anyway, we used phil wood track hubs, had two sets of different long lengths of nipples to select from (don't you just love that term, where is the dick in a bicycle wheel.)

would anyone care to guess what kind of rim we used today. the master builder had never done one of these (no fair to Ken/Ben Sanford who sold us these rims, in original packaging by the way, with proper admonitions !)

looks like we just mis-estimated the proper spoke length by a "smidgen" or so. but not according to current charts.

anyway we'll be back. this has been a good day, and then, when i left the shop basement build area in the late afternoon, it was pouring buckets, per the usual virginia thunderstorm. man, did it pour down like silver.

would i do it again ... of course, next time we'll bring a high/low campy rear hub !
