We've been around the block on this before on the list. My opinion (which, with 4 bucks will get you a latte at starbucks), is that powdercoating is fine for an anonymous bike you're going to ride hard and put away wet.

But for a restoration? No way. No. Way.

And for the difference in price between powdercoating and a good two-part professional paint applied by Joe Bell, for instance, I don't see the point. A simple one-color imron or similar paint-job, no complications, with graphics, will usually run 500-600 bucks, depending. A quality powder job is going to run close to 200 bucks. Depending on the bike that difference is meaningful..or not.
