Subject: [CR]Classic ride in Germany Oberammergau July 5th

Fellow Listmembers, I would like to invite all Listmemebers, as far as they are in the area for the first Classic Ride im my homtown in Oberammergau, Bavaria, Germany. It will take place on July 5th and we will start at 10:00 AM. On this weekend (July 5th and 6th) the Tour Transalp organized by germany's big cycling magazine Tour will start in Oberammergau on sunday, most participants and a Expo Area will be present on Saturday, so I thought this might be a nice surroundig for our ride. It is planned to ride between 60 to 100km in our really nice area on quiet country roads with almost no car traffic. A after ride Pasta and beer party will be organised. I have invited to this event also via the german classic bike Tour Forum and have received a lot of positive feedback. No need to say that only classic bikes and outfits are allowed.

Last year i had a nice episode there when I talked to an american Tour Transalp starter who showed up with a beautiful Della Santa bike, a KOF frame equipped with a full Campy Record 10speed gruppo. He was delighted that somebody recognised his bike and came back later to me, bringing a Della Santa cap and bottle as a gift. I also had to outfit another american participant with shoes and helmet, since his luggage was lost with the airline. We also organized a bike for him from one of the sponosrs of the race (Felt). This guy was more than happy to be able to start and did quite well in the results. The Tour Transalp is a 5 day race over the alps for teams consisting of two riders. Only 500 teams are accepted. If anybody needs a bike to ride in our classic ride or a place to stay overnight, I will organise it. I would be happy to welcome some listmembers to our event, listmember Martin Appel, living in Munich, already confirmed his participation.
