Subject: [CR]Schwinn Sport Tourer - followup

Received today the 1973 Schwinn Sport Tourer I recently bought on eBay. This was a very unusual transaction, as the seller didn't believe the bike was worth the $338.50 plus shipping I bid, and insisted on taking only $260 shipping included. The bike was sufficiently complete that I took in out of the box, assembled a few bits, aired up the tires and rode it around the block. There were more little scratches in the paint than could be seen in the photos, but I still wouldn't have been unhappy paying my bid price for this bike. Like my 1962 Superior, also a fillet brazed model, this rides very nicely. These fillet brazed Cr-Mo Schwinns aren't superlight, but they steer and track nicely and have a ride which I'd describe as solid but responsive.

The one nonoriginal part is the saddle. Anyone have a Brooks B-15 for sale, so I can restore that? Also, I don't really like the stem shifters, but Suntour barends were an option. I have several pairs, but no "Schwinn Approved" ones. Anyone have a Schwinn-badged set for sale or want to trade for a Suntour-badged pair?

Regards.
