Subject: [CR]Murray TTT bike show bike? team bike?

First I'd like to thank the two members who offered to help pickup a bike from the Chicago area a couple weeks ago. One recommended shipbikes .com, which is a bit expensive overall, but is great for people that aren't experienced at shipping a bike, plus the container is reusable and once you've bought it, the cost of shipping a bike elsewhere gets very reasonable. And the container is approved by TSA and airlines, which could be helpful.

Anyway, the seller was Ok with shipping, and I've got the bike here. It's a Murray TT bike, I think may have been built by Serotta in 1983 (I'm sticking with that date, it's on the SR rear Der., so it's reasonable)

I think it was probably built for one of the trade shows, or perhaps was originally intended for the Olympic team the following year. It was advertised as being built for the 72 Olympics, which is obviously wrong. I know Murray and Huffy had a bit of a legal spat over who would supply the team bikes, and this one has some interesting features that make me think it's possibly one that never got used Pics are Here

The seatpost is one of the Campagnolo ones that was supplied as a solid post so the builder could do their own shaping

Lots of Olympic Logos, which makes sense for a show bike, but maybe not for a competition bike?

Does anyone remember this one from one of the shows in 83 or 84? There's no Serotta labeling, and it doesn't have the Murray cast seatstay tops, but I don't think anyone but Serotta built for Murray. It does have a couple parts that probably need changing, the SR seat QR should probably go, and the rear rim was swapped for a clincher, but the original was included along with a spare set of wheels. Maybe the stem is a later one? And I think the profile sticker is a more recent addition. All in all, I think it's a cool bike, and any extra info about it would be a big bonus.
