Subject: [CR]musings from the John

I have watched the comments on Jon Spangler adding braze-ons to a vintage A llegro.And let me interject; I wish I had a vintage Allegro in Black as I h ad from an old friend 35 years ago.If the additions are done well, can't th ey be cut and filed off if desired at a later date?I personally would rathe r see a bike ridden in modified form than sit in the rafters as a relic.Bic ycles in other parts of the world are transportation.Yes they arise to artf orms when constructed by a true artisan.If a purist is so inscensed by this
   supposed heresy; I propose that self-appointed guardian of all that is god ly and holy buy the subject Allegro from the infidel.Even better trade for an equally adequate ride. Come on guys, and ladies, give a brother a break! Jon just wants to ride, is that not a good thing?I know I am only a lowly b ottom feeder without a custom frame to my name, ever to be mired in a moras s of mass production steel.In the, now mortal, words of Rodney King;
   "can't we all just get along?"If we were talking about a holy icon such as
   a Confente or a Gloria, we might have a real discussion.A mass produced bi ke that many of you would disdain to own let alone be seen riding is not a bad thing to fix to the owner's taste.  Happy Trails to all, and remember ; STEEL IS REALJohn Strizek Sacramento, CA USA  P.S. To Jerry Moos; I can 't believe they let you stay in this group with your deviant taste in Fille t Schwinns.Is there nothing sacred to your love of Vintage Steel?
