I've got a (lugged steel) Specialized Allez with similarly high-mounted downtube shifter bosses.

It is frightening at times having ones fingers inadvertently rub the tire a centimeter or two behind the almost-finger-sized gap between tire and fork crown, especially when wearing full-fingered gloves.

It seems too likely that one's finger(s) could get pulled under the crown!!!

I haven't ridden another bike where this issue was apparent, but on this bike it happens every ride.
