Fred, You may be thinking of some earlier Weinmann levers. Some even had a vertical WEINMANN lettering stamped into the lever arms which mimicked Campagnolo S/R markings. By the 1980s when they began to update their top level calipers and levers, they also changed those lever bodies to a more contemporary shape.
Here is one example of a Carrera lever blown up from one catalogue page... they changed very slightly during a few years in actual production, and some even included the cable slot at the front of the body which was an even more common feature on later Dia-Compe Grand Compe models.

The difference is in the actual level (which is more nicely made), and the rubber lever cover. This cover was actually quite thick and provided the new contour that appeared similar to Campagnolo.
