Tim asked?

I might have a lead on a 70s Fuji track bike, and I'd like to know more

about them. This one has steel tubing, I think it said 331 Chromoly... I

don't remember if it said butted or not. Crankset is a SuperMighty from

Sugino, and it looks like standard road bars, not deeper, swoopier track

bars. Wheels may not be original... I think they were high flange (no

cutouts) Superbe, but it was kinda dark and I didn't get a good look. Rims

were some model of Araya sewups. Does anyone have any further info? Was

the geometry truly "track" geometry or more road/training style? It's my

size, and I've never had a legit fixie with track ends, so it's tempting!

Oh, also, any guesses on value on such a bike, assuming grungy but not

battered?

Tim, I had one of these that I bought used in about 1996 or so, and

paid $250 at that time for the complete bike. Don't have any idea

on current values.

It wasn't drilled for a brake, but that didn't stop me, since it

wasn't such a classic that I felt drilling would be a grave sin.

It had the Sugino cranks & the hubs were the "Sunshine" "Professional"

high-flange track hubs, which were a very nice copy of the Campy hubs.

Mine was also a 59 cm, and I remember the angles as being fine for road

use, probably around 73 degrees for the seat tube. Mine also had

sewups - but I don't remember the rims. I later sold it to a friend for

about what I paid for it. Nice bike for the money.
