I think Phil is synthetic(?) and does not absorb water, what it does do as a light grease is migrate out of the hub as you ride, thus flushing contaminates out. WTBs Grease Guard series I believe made use of this phenomenon and as long as you are adding new grease it should work as advertised. My comment from earlier still stands , you do not want a product which absorbs moisture as a lubricant especially if your bike sits as this will lead to corrosion. Any Engineers out there want to weigh in? Harvey?
