Peter, I have solved the riddle re the Simplex gear. There were 2 types offered in 1937 -40. The Selection Standard and the Selection Professionel. The latter had the chain tensioner on the quadrant.. This is what is illustrated in the Fonteyn catalogue but is described wrongly as the Standard. The parts list IS for the Standard which is why the tensioner parts are not shown. The changing fork was reinvented from the paralellogram type to a simpler curved fork job very similar to the Osgear. This is also shown in Fonteyn but may well have been common to both models.
