Been following this debate loosely, not looked at offers from seller(s) in question, but suggest this: a modern ("repro") pantograph on a old part wil l be free from scratches and abrasion whereas the paint and chrome on the p art itself will be "patinated". So likely as not paint perfect panto on old
   gear, like someone has bought a can can of pinstripers paint and carefully
