Hi Gang,

Here is what I have learned been told thus far, bodies are either magnesium or titainium, and cogs are Dural or Ergal ( formulas of aluminum? ).

Tightly spaced corncob clusters were typical for time trials.I am amazed at how light they are. less than half the weight of typical steel. My postal scale says less than 7 oz. Not sure how accurate the scale is.

The kit I have looks to be a racer mechanics custom mahogany wood box with a variety of cogs to build up depending on the terrain. 24 to 13 cog number. Spacers are plastic and aluminum. Additionally a custum made body holder to be clamped in a vice while working on the cluster. Enough cogs for numerous clusters. Both 5 and 6 speed (6spd is a double cog outer thread on). which tells me 1970-80's.

Does anyone know how long Maillard made these racing sets? I am really impressed with the quality.

I need to be educated on Maillard Dural cog sets. I have several bodies and sets of cogs that are Aluminum, Were these used for racing in the 1970-80's?

Please share your knowledge, off list is fine.
