Subject: [CR] Touring Shoes and Clipless

List, I'm still using clips and straps with Adidas "Eddy Merckx" shoes because the only shoe I've tried on lately that actually fits is the SIDI (spell that "$IDI"), and I'm too cheap to spring for a pair. I seem to be having a lot of trouble these days with my straps at traffic lights. Probably need new straps. But in terms of performance, I'm wondering about the "float" the clipless ads always mention. Is this the ability to swivel your foot slightly from side to side? If so, might this be an improvement in terms of finding the optimal alignment for your stroke, and varying that alignment throughout the day to decrease fatigue?
