Yeah, I did think about that, but knowing Joy, I didn't figure she would sell the framesets. She has always done things her way, so I figured if she had decided to build them up as complete bikes, there would likely be no exceptions. Pity that the only way to have one of these built with classic components seems to be to buy a complete bike, then change out all the components. Actually there might be one other option. Last time I was in Boone's Joy still had a lot of NOS classic parts in a display case. Most or all of them were for sale, but they were not cheap. So if you were willing to pay the price, I imagine Joy would probably build up the bike with classic parts from her stash.

BTW for those not familar with the Houston bicycle scene, Daniel Boone Cycles is actually named after Joy's ex-husband, Daniel Boone, which I think is his real name. He has for decades been a big time auto dealer in Houston, with a BMW franchise among others. I believe they divorced several decades ago, probably before I first visited the bike shop circa 1981. She has continued to run the bike shop under that name. Definitley worth a visit if you are in Houston for a couple of days. I did not realize she had had some frames built by Romic, the announcement implies these were built when Ray was still alive, not more recently by his son. I can't tell from the available photos whether these are badged as Romic or as Boone. Regards,
