The steel cantle on your Ideale 59 is certainly original.
I've seen a few Ideale 57 with alloy cantles, about half had problems with cracking at rail fixation bolt.
The steel cantle version is much more common. I'm not sure if the alloy can tle came first, and then they changed to steel because it was too fragile?
