I spoke to Mario Grandis about that bike and he said the curved arched rear arched brake bridge was designed like that "so its lower on the chainstays to give more strength between them (the lower the better he explained)".

Built with Columbus SL tubing and Campagnolo dropouts. Accepts 27.2 seatpost and spaced for six-speed freewheel. Note the arched rear brake bridge, chainstay bridge, and extended bottom bracket shell tangs.
A great, and I stress GREAT riding frame!!! Many paint touch-ups done, but still looks very nice in my picky opinion. 100% free of dents, cracks, bends. Frame was treated with Weigle frame solution prior to build.
