By the way, it goes without saying that if you can't get all the kinks out of the tube, when partially inflated within the tire, then your tube is never going to seat properly and you need to get a smaller tube.

A 2nd way to do the "large tube in small tire mounting" is as follows:

With the tire and tube off the bike, you can also inflate the tube again to 20-30 psi, and go around the tire seating the tube evenly and without kinks or twists in the tire.

Once seated, you can proceed to mount half the tire with the inner tube inflated, onto the rim (to keep the tube from moving), until you get near the end, when you let out some air pressure to finish installing the tire and tube on the rim.
