Subject: [CR] Imholtz road lost--a heads-up

Earlier this year, I bought a nice Imholtz road bike on ebay, from a Swiss seller. The bike was a bright orange with chromed fancy lugs, in very good original condition. Probably early 1960s, with a full campagnolo kit. I have some pics of a similar track bike, which I'll post by and by.

The seller shipped the bike via SwissPost, who handed it off to---wait for it----USPS, at US water's edge. USPS---yes, you guessed it--managed to lose the bike. There was a tracking number for SwissPost, but none for USPS. I've had zero luck with USPS even bothering to try to find it without a tracking number....don't ask me why the seller shipped without a tracking number first to last (there were a few things about the sale I'd like to do over, but that's the main thing, as I wish I had the bike).

anyway, the seller did insure it with SwissPost, and while I don't have a full refund yet, I have most of it, and will have the rest soon, I hope, anyway.

The seller behaved in exemplary fashion throughout, except for lollygagging on the last bit of refund, so I have no beef with him.

Beyond thinking very bad thoughts about USPS, I'm posting to the list to ask that you keep an eye peeled for this bike. If your hear of someone selling a red-orange Imholtz road from the early 60s with campagnolo group, please let me know. I'm not sure I could prove much, in the end, but I'd try. The seller does have pics of the bike, so we could compare them. I really regret that the bike was lost, as it was very pretty.

Thanks.
