John:

Trust me, overlooking an Aelle frame because it isn't built with SL or SLX is a mistake. Many Italian makers, and Razesa in Spain built very nicely crafted frames from Aelle and other second tier tubesets. In like fashion, there are some very nice British bikes built with straight gauge Reynolds 531.

Yes, a bit heavier but the ride characteristics seem just as good as top shelf butted tubing in my experience. I rather like the fact that they tend to go for short money.

Aelle tubing on a bike of that caliber? Kind of odd. I would think it would be at least SL. Best, John Cerasulo Brooklyn, NY

There seems to be a lot of vintage Colnago Saronni frames on the market and the link here is to a an eBay listing for one such frame;

As a group of vintage enthusiasts can we spot the difference(s) between one of Ernesto Colnago's rare gems and a fake? It might be that this is a real example and not a fake.
