Tom, I'm not sure if we mean the same bike. I has posted about this eBay Della Santa:

http://ebay.com/<blah>

I'd never seen a touring Della Santa before, but I like it including the extended headtube. I think it's perfectly OK for other CR members to criticize the extended headtube as ugly, I just happen to totally disagree with them.

\r?\n> Folks, a short while back Jimmy

\r?\n> Katynski, a long time CR member and a friend

\r?\n> listed his Della Santa bike for sale to the CR list.

\r?\n> It has an extended

\r?\n> head tube.  He asked what I feel a very fair price for

\r?\n> it.  Since that time

\r?\n> a few people have assailed the virtues of that bike in

\r?\n> vituperative terms.

\r?\n> I think this is grossly unfair to Jimmy and exhibits a lack

\r?\n> of sensitivity

\r?\n> to his feelings.  I do not think it appropriate to

\r?\n> diss  one of our members

\r?\n> bikes when it is being offered for sale like this.  No

\r?\n> attempt at anything

\r?\n> like fraud,  misrepresentation, or anything like that

\r?\n> was made by Jimmy.  He

\r?\n> thought he was making an offering to friends.  I

\r?\n> wonder if he still feels

\r?\n> that way?

\r?\n>

\r?\n> If it is a matter of taste, I think one should take any

\r?\n> negative comments

\r?\n> they care to make off line in such a situation.  This

\r?\n> all came across like

\r?\n> hostility to a great guy who had done no wrong and some

\r?\n> folks here should

\r?\n> examine their behavior in this matter.  We so not do

\r?\n> so well when we are

\r?\n> divisive and not inclusive.

\r?\n>

\r?\n> I like the bike.  A lot.  And I like Jimmy a lot,

\r?\n> too.  If you feel like

\r?\n> making negative comments toward me, please co0ntact me off

\r?\n> line to do so.
