Jack,

The old "pipita" color gas pipe Crescents were real clunkers. They had welded of fillet brazed construction. Some of them had strange components on a department store quality bike such as Campy Tipo hubs.

My suggestion, save the head badge and anything else of value and let the rest fulfill it's karma. There's a Kia or Hyundai awaiting it's arrival in Valhalla! ;-)

I stumbled upon a low-end Crescent that had a one-piece Simplex 3-arm crank with Al chainwheels...never seen these before. The bike was ratty but with other unusual features such as c-pull calipers whose design resembled Mafac Racers but semi-round in section like Weinmann...the make decal now illegible...might have been Altenburgher (sp?) but don't think so. I almost brought it home for the ornate headbadge...

Is this bike worth "preserving" for my posterior or posterity...or did I do right by walking away?
