Actually I have built up a set of wheels with exactly these brand of woodrims. I did not ride them yet, but for braking it is recommended to use cork brakeblocks which could easily be carved out of a suitable sized cork plug with a sharp kitchen knife. It is also not recommended to use them in the rain or to store the wheels in moist place. My bike with these rims lives in the living room. My rims were found in an old attic and have one spot where some rodents attacked them but I consider the tiny spot not a problem since it does not afect the braking surface.

Hi,

Re Kevin's post about wooden wheel rims I wonder if anyone has any experience of riding on this type of rim. For example, how do brake blocks perform against a varnished (?) wooden surface. Is the ride springy? Do the wheel rims deteriorate when used in rain and / or are they affected by fungal decay or woodworm.
