I've got a bit of Hi-E stuff also. I think most people never trusted the Hi-E skewers on a rear wheel, myself included. I do use them on the front wheel. I take it you don't trust them on either wheel. I've sometimes used anti-theft skewers with allen sockets which seem to me be something in the style of the Hi-E skewers and a whole lot safer.
