Subject: [CR] alloy parts polishing

The Super Record seatposts had a factory polish job that looked close to a mirror finish. It appeared that they were cut at an angle and retained the angular lines from a buffing pad. It's easy enough to make them look that way again if you want it to look just like they came from the factory. The polish job on factory parts certainly varied, judging by what i've seen.

The Nuovo Record post was knurled. There is really no way to save the knurling when polishing one that's been dinged & pitted.

All the Campagnolo alloy cranks i've encountered were anodized with the exception of Victory. Not sure why they decided to leave the ano off this one.

I'm in the camp of leaving the anodize on if a part is in clean shape. If the part is pitted & worn, why not strip it & polish. For a factory look, it could be anodized again.

If something gets too shiny...rub it with some newspaper.
