Subject: Re: [CR] alloy parts polishing

CR Listers, All this talk of polishing alloy parts is a perfect segue to express my desire to evaluate a couple of products that claim to perform a chemical anodization of polished aluminum that will withstand salt spray testing well and not diminish the appearance of highly polished parts.

They are claiming the benefits of anodization without the dulling appearance of it.

I plan to set up a series of experiments with some real parts and evaluate four things: cost, ease of use, appearance, and durability or protection.

1. Do any of you have anodizing products you would like evaluated? 2. Do any of you have polished parts you would like to offer up for testing? I don't want to just use wrought or extrusion material as the parts we are interested in are almost exclusively castings made of specific alloys. Broken or worn out parts are perfect.

I would like to do this as a service to the list and for my own knowledge. If you are interested in the testing or the results, please contact me off list. Thank you,
