Subject: [CR] Cambio and Brake Housing clamp questions

Friends: I recently acquired a Cimatti which was originally Cambio Corsa that got a derailleur added by some previous owner. I want to return it to it's Cambio Corsa state and ride it occasionally. The bike has the Cambio Corsa hubs (but not the Cambio rear QR....darnit.....) Teeth on the dropouts and axles are in very good shape. This bike is at least a decade older than anything else in my herd, so I am treading in new waters here.

My questions: First: The rear hub locknuts are are knurled. This would be great for a static wheel but it seems like it would just cause extra friction for a wheel sliding fore and aft. I would have suspected them to be smooth? Were the original rear hub locknuts knurled? I have no reason to suspect that they are not original, it just seems odd.....

Second: There are 4 unfaded stripes on the top tube, as if there were 4 really wide brake housing clamps in the past. (It came to me with 2 steel clips for the brake housing) I found this bike on wooljersey: http://www.wooljersey.com/gallery/Edward+Albert/album127/1946_Wilier_La_Triestina_copper_plated.jpg.html

It looks like what my Cimatti probably had! I can't see them well enough. Are they just tape? Are they some sort of little belt?

And lastly.....if somebody in CR land has a Cambio Corsa mechanism that they want to relocate....clue me in!

I would love to ride this at Cirque 2010...then again I dropped a chain on my Tout Mavic Gitane at Cirque 2009 so maybe I would be pressing my luck....

Cheers from Dallas, TX, USA, Earth! Clyde (how do you shift this thing?????) Putman
