If the BB is merely wider than expected, but uses standard Italian threaded cups, you might try to find a spindle meant for a 74mm wide bottom bracket.

74mm was a "standard" but less highly utilized Italian BB width. If this is the case, it's conceivable you could use a spindle meant for 72mm thin-wall cups with thick-wall Italian cups. It would not have to be Campagnolo stuff. I don't know how many Miche, Ofmega and Magistroni parts are floating around the Tel Aviv area, but those characters made such stuff.
