I won my first bike race at Soldier's Field, on the 1/4 mile asphalt midget car track in 1947. It was a 4th of july Police Benefit and show with some bike races on the program with about 40,000 spectators. It was somewhat intimidating to a bunch of young kids. That's a modified coaster brake old stock bike. The closest that is to a track bike is when it may have been ridden past the velodrome on the way to school.
