from the sellers standpoint: We as retailers needed something to distinguish models that buyers could SEE. Moving a mid range buyer up is tough when you are talking about single vs double butted, or seamed vs seamless, or cold forged vs melt forged cranks. Mid range buyers often can;t really tell the difference, especially on a 1/4 mile test ride. But when you show your buyer that in addition to better materials and spiffier cranks they get A REAR QUICK RELEASE! Now the chances of selling the higher end bike is better.
