Angel and others:

While you're talking about comparing Masis Euro and US, I'd like to throw another builders name in the ring. Last year a knowledgeable Masinista told me my 1962 Special was built by a "torch" named Merlo. A fine wine but I'd never heard of such a person. This year, with the help of Scott Davis, the wine mystery was solved. The frame was built in the Vigorelli by Diecimo Merlo. According to Scott and Alberto, Diecimo (sp) was Faliero's top builder. He had worked for Masi when he started his atelier in 1946 until his death in 1966. The same Masinista also said that Faliero would file Diecimo's completed frames. There are no file marks to be seen on my Special except the underside of the BB.
