It's 45 years or so since I bought my own Avanti road bike, very much like Larry's. I am certain that mine had the round fork blades, and believe that it had both the double plate crown and (pretty sure of this one) Nervex pro lugwork. But, it's 45 years...

It seems possible that the fork [which i believe you said had French threads and a French 22.0 steerer i.d.] may not be original. neither the crown nor the dropouts match the frame. Is the bottom bracket threaded French [or Swiss]? If not, i'd definitely say it's a mismatch. Still a very cool fork. Cheers. Billy Ketchum; Chicago, IL; USA.
