Interesting. Even in the UK, we prefered Universal levers with Mafac brakes. My memory is hazy after all this time but I believe it was because of the adjusters in the levers.

Just got my Universal Gummed Hoods from Robbie & they are excellent right down to the Universal lettering around the black adjuster rubbers. Now a question, my original hoods have blue in the recess of the side lettering. See  http://www.flickr.com/photos/45152688@N06/4190032049/  Has anyone messed with this detail & what did you use.

Yes I know, not on a PX10 but I saw a comment that "Continental riders used Mafac brakes w/ Universal levers" and this is the way I got the bike. Does anyone know why they did this.
