Subject: [CR] Bianchi Specialissima x3

I recently acquired an 83-84 Bianchi Specialissima "x3", having purchased it from the original owner who purchased it from a shop north of San Francisco. It is made of Columbus SLX tubing with aero seat stays, fork blades and seat post. Full Campy SR. Most everything is pantographed. It has very few miles and shows almost no wear. It obviously has never been serviced...the headset flats and BB lockring have never seen a wrench.

I have had difficulty finding any information about the bike, even after a search of CR archives, Google, and conversations with other enthusiasts.

Some questions: Where was the bike distrubuted? Does it appear in any catalog? How many were made? (mine is stamped A 163 on the seat cluster). Were they raced? What is the significance of the {x3}? Where does it fall in the heirarchy of Bianchi Bicycles?

I would appreciate any comments about the bike.
