As Christmas approaches, I found a way to rekindle the sense of anticipation I felt as a kid:
Based on some not-so-great pictures, I bought a 1997 lugged Columbus Marinoni. Yes, it's off the time line, but a Marinoni of that vintage is truly Keeper of the Flame!
It's the same size and vintage of the sample I rode more extensively than I should have when I worked at Velo-Sport in Berkeley, so I know I like the ride. I'm just not sure about the condition. If it turns out to be as clean as the pictures suggest, I got a real bargain.
So now I wait for the brown-clad elf in the big brown truck.
