Kevin,
The Specialized built by Dave was built just like the Tesch frames. Dave was a production oriented freambuilder. What he devised to save time was the Tesch S-22 model frame. The way it was built saved time and facilitated production; but the end result is still a fine bicycle. It's really not that difficult to build a good sound basic bicycle.

I recently purchased a very nice Specialized "Team" Allez, and following some online research, was surprised to discover it's a 1987 model year built by Dave Tesch. Received the bike this week, and the frame is quite nicely built. Thought that Tesch may have cut some corners since it was sold as a "production" machine, but I was wrong.
Apparently he built their top road bike for one year only, using Columbus SLX tubing. Didn't see any mention of this fact on your Dale's CR Tesch section, nor didn't find any discussion on the CR list archives.
Since there has been past discussion on identifying Specialized frames built by either 3Rensho or Miyata, I thought this may be of interest to some Specialized and/or Dave Tesch owners.
If interested, here's a link to the bike forum discussion that helped me identify the bike:

I will post some photos of the bike once I am finished cleaning it up and overhauling the components.
Regards, Kevin Kruger - Grantville, PA
